American stage and screen actor Liev Schreiber has built a formidable body of work during his 25 years in acting. He has appeared and voiced characters in over 80 films, including X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Spotlight, Isle of Dogs and Scream 2. On stage, he has played leading roles in many high-profile Shakespeare productions and appeared in major Broadway productions of the likes of Glengarry Glen Ross and A View from the Bridge. On television, he played the title character in Ray Donovan, a critically-acclaimed Showtime drama that ran for seven seasons and won many awards. Schreiber himself is no stranger to accolades, having won Tony Awards, Drama Desk Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and many others.
Schreiber enjoyed a bohemian upbringing but went on to achieve a Master’s degree from the Yale School of Drama, one of the most prestigious institutions in the world. He also studied at the similarly august Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Unsurprisingly, given such classical pedigree, his first successes were on the stage in Shakespeare. One of his first major televisual triumphs came in 1999 when he portrayed Orson Welles in RKO 281, a biopic that won him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Television Film.
Schreiber has been busy ever since, particularly in movies, and is constantly appearing in new films. His recent projects have included Wes Anderson’s comedy-drama film The French Dispatch and an Italian-American adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s Across the River and Into the Trees. There will also be a feature-length film version of Ray Donovan to thrill the show’s legion of fans.
