Abigale Lee Miller is an American dance teacher, choreographer and reality TV star. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and her mother owned a dance studio. In her mother’s studio she learned to dance as a young child and developed an interest in teaching from coaching the competition groups. In 1995 Miller started to run the studio, having found her lifelong passion for dancing.
In 2011 Miller began work on the reality TV show ‘Dance Moms’. She was in the programme for 8 seasons. The young dancers in the Abby Lee Dance Company were followed through training and competition. On the show she pushed her students hard to reach competition standard. Further shows were made linked to ‘Dance Moms’, ‘Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition’, ‘Dance Moms Abby’s studio rescue’ and ‘Dance Moms: Miami’. She acted as a judge on ‘Dancing with the Stars’. In 2015 Miller opened a studio in Los Angeles. She wrote a book ‘Everything I Learned about Life, I Learned in Dance Class’ which has been widely read.
