Also known by her social media handle and brand name, Salty Seattle, Linda Miller-Nicholson is a pasta artist and author who has been hailed as “the Lady Gaga of food” by the Cooking Channel. She can boast a social media following of well over 300,000 fans. This is no doubt helped by her star-studded client list, which includes the likes of Gigi Hadid, Katy Perry, Reese Witherspoon, Harry Connick Jr, and Matthew McConaughey, to name a few. Her first book, Pasta, Pretty Please: A Vibrant Approach to Handmade Noodles, was published in 2018 and has received overwhelmingly five-star reviews from readers.
Miller-Nicholson has a lifetime’s experience with pasta — she has been making her own since she was just four years old. When she wanted to get her young son to eat more vegetables, she began making naturally colourful noodles and pasta using just vegetables. They proved both a hit and a niche. Before long, she was not only making great dishes but she was also creating edible art. So was born the idea for her brand, Salty Seattle, which sells rainbow-coloured pasta kits and also provides plenty of “how-to” videos on its popular YouTube channel (current subscriber count: 36,200).
It wasn’t long before Miller-Nicholson was attracting media attention, and she has since been featured by news outlets worldwide from the BBC to The Food Network and from Good Housekeeping to Elle magazine. With international recognition and celebrity fanbase engaging her to help design their homes, Miller-Nicholson has made a wonderfully inventive career from simply doing what she loves.
