Lisa Barbelin

Lisa Barbelin, born on April 10, 2000, in Ley, Moselle, France, is an accomplished international archer specializing in the recurve bow. She made her senior international debut in 2019, securing a team bronze medal at the Antalya stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup. Her career advanced significantly in 2021 when she won the European Championship title, marking her as the first French archer to do so since 2008. The same year, she earned a bronze medal in the team event at the World Archery Championships.

Barbelin’s Olympic journey began at the Tokyo 2020 Games, where she competed in both the individual and mixed team events. She continued her participation in the Paris 2024 Games, making history by becoming the first French female archer to win an individual Olympic medal, securing a bronze. Beyond Olympic achievements, Barbelin has demonstrated consistent success in continental championships, including winning the European Indoor Championship title in 2022, a team silver at the 2023 European Games in Poland, and an individual bronze at the 2024 European Championships.

Currently, Lisa Barbelin is also a chemistry student at Sorbonne University, balancing her academic pursuits with her demanding athletic career. She trains extensively, shooting approximately 2,000 arrows per week at INSEP in Paris. Her dedication to both her sport and studies highlights her discipline and commitment to excellence. She is also an amateur pianist and is dating fellow French archer Thomas Chirault. Her family provides significant support, serving as her primary motivation and lucky charm.
