Lisa Marie Varon, born on February 10, 1971, in San Bernardino, California, established a career marked by athleticism and competitive drive. Her early life included cheerleading, with national recognition from the National Cheerleading Association, and studies in biology and medicine with aspirations of becoming a physician. Before her wrestling career, Varon worked as a human tissue coordinator and later became a personal trainer, teaching aerobics. Her foray into competitive fitness saw her win ESPN2’s Fitness America Series in 1997 and secure her International Federation of BodyBuilders (IFBB) Professional Fitness Card in 1999 after placing second at the NPC Team Universe show in New York City.
Varon’s professional wrestling journey began in 2000, initially training with Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) and later WWF developmental territories. She made her on-screen WWF debut as one of The Godfather’s “hos” and quickly adopted the ring name Victoria. She joined the main roster of WWE in 2002, where her character evolved into a demented villainess, feuding with Trish Stratus and winning her first WWE Women’s Championship at Survivor Series in 2002. She held the championship twice during her tenure, which lasted until 2009. Notable matches included a hardcore match for her first title win and the first women’s steel cage match in WWE history against Lita in 2003. She also famously shaved Molly Holly’s head at WrestleMania XX after a hair vs. title match.
After leaving WWE in 2009, Varon joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) as Tara. There, she continued her success, becoming a five-time TNA Knockouts Champion and a one-time TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion with Brooke Tessmacher. Her time in TNA ended in 2013, but she returned to wrestling on the independent circuit. In 2021, she made a one-night return to WWE for the Royal Rumble and later that year, WWE Network included her in their list of top 50 female wrestlers. In August 2024, Varon announced she had signed a WWE Legends contract, allowing her likeness to be used in merchandise and solidifying her legacy in the wrestling industry. Her signature finishing move, the Widow’s Peak, became iconic during her career.
