Alexander Wolfe has discussed recent partnerships between WWE and various independent promotions, acknowledging WWE's close relationships with European promotions wXw, PROGRESS Wrestling, and ICW, and benefiting from these working relationships.
Due to a cooperation between WWE and wXw, Alexander "Axel Tischer" Wolfe was able to wrestle a total of five matches for wXw between 2019 and 2020 under his WWE name, later returning to win the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship and wXw Shotgun Championship.
Alexander Wolfe has maintained a strong partnership with PROGRESS Wrestling, where he is a former Progress Wrestling Atlas Champion and a one-time holder of the Progress World Tag Team Champions, often partnering with Big Damo to enhance the brand.
Alexander Wolfe (Axel Tischer) returned to his home promotion, German Wrestling Federation, after his WWE tenure, where he became a two-time GWF World Champion and a GWF Berlin Champion.
Axel Tischer, known professionally as Alexander Wolfe, was born on November 5, 1986, in Dresden, East Germany. He began his professional wrestling training at the age of 13 in his hometown. Prior to joining WWE, Tischer wrestled extensively on the independent circuit across Germany and Europe, gaining experience in various promotions such as German Stampede Wrestling, the German Wrestling Federation, and Westside Xtreme Wrestling. A significant early achievement came in 2012 when he defeated El Generico to win the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship, holding the title for nearly a year before losing it to Tommy End. His career on the independent circuit also saw him become a two-time wXw Shotgun Champion and a two-time wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion, showcasing his capabilities before his international debut.
Wolfe joined WWE in April 2015, beginning his training at the WWE Performance Center. He made his television debut on NXT in July 2015, adopting the ring name Alexander Wolfe a month later. In 2016, he became part of the stable SAnitY alongside Eric Young, Sawyer Fulton, and Nikki Cross. As part of SAnitY, Wolfe achieved significant success, including winning the NXT Tag Team Championship with Eric Young in August 2017, marking him as the first German to hold a championship in WWE. The group was later drafted to SmackDown in 2018, where they engaged in feuds with teams like The Usos and The New Day, securing a notable victory in a Tables Match against The New Day at Extreme Rules (2018).
Following the disbandment of SAnitY in 2019, Wolfe transitioned to NXT UK, aligning with the dominant faction Imperium, alongside notable talents like WALTER, Marcel Barthel, and Fabian Aichner. His tenure with Imperium reinforced his reputation as a formidable competitor, with the group consistently advocating for their “mat is sacred” philosophy. Wolfe participated in high-profile matches as part of Imperium, including an eight-man tag team match on WWE Raw in November 2019 and a significant clash against The Undisputed Era at Worlds Collide (2020). After being attacked by his Imperium stablemates Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner on NXT in May 2021, Wolfe’s departure from WWE was confirmed, leading to his return to the independent circuit under his real name, Axel Tischer, where he continued to secure championships such as the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship and the GWF World Championship.
