Award-winning Dutch stage and screen actress Lotte Verbeek has found international success thanks to her roles as Geillis Duncan in Outlander, Katarina Rostova in The Blacklist, Ana Jarvis in Agent Carter, Giulia Farnese in The Borgias, and many more. She also appeared in the box-office-number-one movie The Fault in Our Stars (as Lidewij Vliegenthart, the assistant to Willem Defoe’s character) and won several film festival awards for her acting in the 2009 drama film Nothing Personal. Her most recent roles have included her recurring role as Katarina in The Blacklist and an appearance in an episode of FBI: International. She is slated to appear alongside her former Outlander co-star Graham McTavish in the 2023 movie Perfidious.
Verbeek began in her native Netherlands, where she worked as a model and a professional dancer whilst also training as an actor and singer. She first made waves on the international acting scene thanks to her award-winning performances in 2009’s Nothing Personal and 2010’s Le Raggaze dello Swing. In 2010, she won the Shooting Star Award, presented to the best up-and-coming acting talent. Her first major television role came shortly afterwards when she was cast as Giulia in The Borgias, which aired in the USA and Canada.
Since then, Verbeek has continued to prove her talent and versatility on the international stage, whether it’s appearing in a historical fantasy drama like Outlander or a Marvel show like Agent Carter. Her casting in the ever-popular Blacklist across five seasons was her most prominent work to date, and more will surely follow.
