With 11 million subscribers to his current YouTube channel, nearly 4 million Instagram followers, and 800,000 Twitch subscribers, Spanish vlogger and social media star Luzu is by far one of his home country’s most successful internet personalities. His content, all in Spanish, focuses on the latest in gaming and apps. He has a broad appeal, mainly looking at games such as Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto V and taking in a wide range of platforms from the Playstation to mobile phones.
Nowadays, young people are perhaps more likely to want to become a social media star or influencer than they are a rock star or movie star. This, coupled with Luzu’s phenomenal success, mean that he’s as much in demand for his story and advice on how to make it on social media as he is for his content. His rise to the top started in 2011 when he was working for a Spanish TV production company. He started his first YouTube channel, Luzuvlogs, which eventually gained over 2.5 million subscribers before he stopped uploading content in 2017. As his audience and reputation grew, one of the ways he enhanced his presence was by creating multiple channels on various platforms. Luzugames was launched in 2013, well before Luzuvlogs reached its peak, and has far outstripped its predecessor’s success with over 1.8 billion views of its content.
In the spirit of the best YouTubers, Luzu has also collaborated with several other major personalities on the channel, including Caspar Lee, Rubius, and WillyRex. He has also appeared on several popular “react” videos, where internet celebrities film their reactions to something popular that they’ve never seen before.
