Lyle Thompson

Lyle Thompson, born on September 9, 1992, is a Haudenosaunee professional lacrosse player hailing from the Hawk Clan of the Onondaga Nation. He stands at 6 feet 1 inch and weighs 180 pounds, playing as an attackman in field lacrosse and a forward in box lacrosse, with a right-handed shot. Thompson’s collegiate career at the University at Albany was highly distinguished, where he became the first male player to earn the Tewaaraton Trophy in consecutive seasons in 2014 and 2015. He established new NCAA Division I records for career points with 400 and assists with 225. His 2014 season saw him set a new NCAA single-season points record with 128 and match the single-season assists record with 77.

In his professional career, Thompson was selected first overall in the 2015 National Lacrosse League (NLL) draft by the Georgia Swarm, where he has remained. He has achieved multiple accolades, including the NLL Most Valuable Player award in 2017 and the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) MVP award in 2019. Thompson continues to perform at a high level, consistently ranking among the top players in the NLL for goals, assists, and points. His impact extends beyond individual statistics, as he is a key offensive player for the Georgia Swarm, contributing significantly to their team success.

Internationally, Thompson proudly represents the Haudenosaunee men’s national lacrosse team.
