Manteo Mitchell is a professional American runner with several impressive titles to his name. He’s best known for running a race with a broken leg during the 2012 Olympics when he injured himself in the first leg of the 4x400m relay and still carried on, allowing his team to qualify for the final race.
Mitchell has always been an impressive sportsman. In 2012, he aided the American team in winning gold at the IAAF World Indoor Championship. He also helped his team win silver at the Olympics even after he sustained the injury that made him famous. Even with his injury holding him back, he worked through the pain and he was less than a second off his personal best in that race, earning the team a world record for the fastest preliminary time in history. He’s a team player, a strong sportsman and an inspiration with ambition.
Mitchell hasn’t been seen at many events since his famous injury at the Olympics, but recently, he’s been trying his hand at a very different sport. He has tried out bobsledding, inspired by his own thrill seeking attitude to try something new. He also gives inspirational speeches all around the world, talking about the 2012 experience that still haunts him to this day. He’s a believer in hard work and determination, certainly the qualities which have led him to his successes in his career so far.
