Reality TV star Marko Germar is a dancer who does both Jazz and Contemporary. In the eighth season of So You Think You Can Dance on the Fox network, he competed and came in third, after Melanie Moore and Sasha Mallory.
Germar was born and raised in Dededo on the island of Guam, a U.S. island territory in Micronesia, in the Western Pacific. He comes from Filipino background. In 2008, he moved to Los Angeles. His mother taught people how to dance the tango in Guam. He trained in all kinds of dance, including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, tap, and even gymnastics, even though he said that as a kid, he only liked hip hop. He didn’t always get regular training, and since he didn’t have any other options, he learned from YouTube.
Since the show, Germar has been doing a lot of paid work. He has been a dancer for Jennifer Lopez, Disney, Glee, and many other shows. He was in Shake It Up and worked with Ross Lynch on stage. He also danced on The Voice, and in the most recent Teen Beach Movie, he was one of the lead dancers. The movie Step Up Revolution also had him in it. In Season 13 of So You Think You Can Dance, he replaced Joshua Allen as the All-Star mentor for Sheaden Gabriel. Then, in Season 14, he came back as an All-Star for Koine Iwasaki and finished second.
