The elegant Melinda Törökgyörgy is a former professional Latin dancer, who now works as a choreographer, lecturer, instructor, and adjudicator. She has won the German Open Championships in both Amateur and Professional divisions, and is a Blackpool amateur champion. She is also a European Professional champion, and has appeared in the British Open Professional Latin final eight years in a row.
Born and raised in Hungary, Törökgyörgy started dancing at a young age and began training in Latin American style when she was 13. She partnered with Simon Szucs, going on to win the Hungarian National 10 Dance Championship, and competed in many national and international events. She began dancing with new partner Maurizio Vescovo in 1998 in Italy, and they went on to become the Amateur Latin champions. They also won the 2007 German Open Championships, as well as the International Championships in England, and the Blackpool Dance Festival.
Törökgyörgy turned professional in 2008, and she and partner Vescovo went on to win the Hungarian Professional Latin Championship of 2009 and the German Open Championships. She began dancing with Andrej Skufca later that year, and in 2011 the duo won the Professional Latin All England Championship. In 2015 they won the Professional latin WDC European Championship, and then in May that same year, at the Blackpool Dance Festival, they announced their retirement from the circuit.
