Leading television and film actress Melora Hardin is best known for her roles as Trudy Monk on comedy-drama series Monk and Jan Levinson on The Office. Hardin was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award for her portrayal of Tammy Cashman in Prime Video’s Transparent, and has starred in the comedy-drama series The Bold Type as Jacqueline Carlyle since 2017. Hardin has appeared in more than 40 films, including Hannah Montana: The Movie as the love interest of Billy Ray Cyrus’s character, and the satirical black comedy Thank You for Smoking and popular comedy 17 Again. An accomplished singer and stage actress, she made her Broadway debut in 2008 as Roxie Hart in Chicago: The Musical.
Hailing from Houston, Texas, acting was in Hardin’s blood as the daughter of a retired actress and an acting coach/manager. She made her television debut as a young star in American children’s show Thunder in 1977. Since then she has appeared in more than 70 television roles and movies, including the television version of Dirty Dancing in 1988, Quantum Leap and Friends. Her more recent roles include the wife of the title character in the USA Network series Monk, Jan Levinson – love interest of Michael Scott in The Office and editor-in-chief Jacqueline Carlyle in comedy-drama series The Bold Type.
Although Hardin is in constant demand as an actress, she is also a talented singer who has written songs all her life. She has released three albums and performed live across the US, and has performed live on television singing The National Anthem for The Ducks, NASCAR and The Dodgers.
