Michael Trevino

Michael Trevino was born on January 25, 1985, in Montebello, California. He was raised there and later in Valencia, California. His mother is from Zacatecas, Mexico, and his father was born in Fresno, California, to Mexican immigrants. Trevino began his acting career with guest appearances on various television shows, including “Charmed,” “CSI: Miami,” “Cold Case,” and “Bones.” These early roles helped him gain experience and visibility in the entertainment industry.

His career saw a turning point when he secured recurring roles on “Cane” in 2007, where he played Jaime Vega, and on “90210” in 2008, portraying Ozzie. However, it was his main role as Tyler Lockwood in The CW’s hit supernatural drama “The Vampire Diaries” from 2009 to 2017 that brought him widespread recognition. During his tenure on the show, he won the Teen Choice Award for “Choice TV Male Scene Stealer” in both 2011 and 2012, and was nominated for the ALMA Award for Favorite TV Actor in a Supporting Role in 2011 and 2012. He also reprised his role as Tyler Lockwood in the spin-off series “The Originals” in 2013.

More recently, Trevino starred as Kyle Valenti in The CW’s “Roswell, New Mexico” from 2019 to 2022. He also made his directorial debut on the series in 2022, directing an episode in its final season. In addition to his television work, he has appeared in films such as the Disney Channel Original Movie “Cow Belles” (2006) and the Chinese film “Out of Control” (2018). Trevino supports the “It Gets Better Project,” aimed at preventing suicide among LGBT youth, reflecting his engagement with social causes.
