The dedicated athlete Naomi Hartley is a professional footballer who plays in defence for Coventry United in the FA Women’s Championship. She has also turned out for Liverpool, Manchester United, and Sheffield United, and has played for the England U17s and U19s. Away from football, she is also the owner of the customised footwear brand Nomzkix, and HARTEclothing.
Born and raised in Burnley, Hartley grew up with a natural talent for football. She came through the youth ranks of her hometown team and their local rivals Blackburn before joining Manchester United’s Centre of Excellence at the age of 13. But after three years at the academy, and with no prospect of progression as United had no senior women’s team at the time, she joined their arch rivals Liverpool.
Hartley made her senior debut for the Reds in February 2018, before returning to Manchester United for their inaugural season in the FA Women’s Championship the same year. She made her debut in September and the following year in March was loaned to Sheffield United. Released by Man Utd at the end of the season she signed permanently with Sheffield United ahead of the 2019-20 season. She remained with the club through the Covid-19 pandemic, and then in 2021 joined Coventry United. On the international stage she captained the England U17 side during the 2018 UEFA Women’s U17 Championship qualification, and help take the team to the semi-finals in the competition. In February 2019 she was called up to the England U-19s.
Hartley regularly connects with her followers and fans through Instagram, posting pictures and videos of her life around football. She is also available for that personalised shout-out via the Cameo platform.
