Australian Paddy Colliar first found fame on his home country’s version of The Bachelorette after appearing on the show’s fourth season in 2018, trying to woo Ali Oetjen. He left the show after eight episodes but soon returned for the second season of Bachelor in Paradise Australia. In both series, he stirred things up with some controversial remarks about some of his co-stars. In August 2021, he was back in the headlines after being stabbed after stepping into an altercation to defend a woman whilst working as a topless waiter. Thankfully, he survived and escaped any long-term damage.
Colliar was working as a gym manager when he first signed up to appear on The Bachelorette in late 2018. His candour on the show — at one point, he was heard to say that he had more of a connection with the alpacas living in the grounds of the Bachelorette mansion than with the Bachelorette herself — won him both column inches and fans, although with remarks like that, it was clear that he was never going to win, and he left after eight episodes. The following April, he was back starring Bachelor in Paradise, speaking his mind and making even more headlines for himself. This time, he left the series after four episodes.
Since his reality TV experiences, Colliar has kept himself busy, engaging with his social media fans and appearing at events around Australia, although as the awful attack on him proves, he’s still not afraid to say what he thinks and stand up for what he believes in.
