Connie McLaughlin

Connie McLaughlin was born and raised in Scotland, where she developed an early interest in sports and media. Her career in broadcasting began in 2007 at Radio Clyde, a respected Scottish radio network. For four years, until 2011, she presented sports bulletins, delivered news updates, and reported on football matches, including the Champions League and the Scottish Premier League (SPL). This early experience provided her with foundational skills in live broadcasting and pitch-side reporting, preparing her for a move into television.

Following her time in radio, McLaughlin transitioned to television, joining ESPN to present shows like KICKS SPL. This move expanded her audience and showcased her analytical abilities and on-screen presence. Subsequently, she contributed to BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 5 Live, featuring on programs such as Final Score, Football Focus, and the Football Daily Podcast. Her versatility extended to Premier Sports (later Viaplay) where she served as a pitch-side reporter for Scotland’s UEFA qualifying campaigns. She also worked with TNT Sports, covering European competitions such as the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League from various international venues.

A significant career milestone for McLaughlin occurred in 2024 when she was selected as ITV’s lead pitch-side reporter for Scotland at the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament. Her coverage of Scotland’s opening game received positive feedback for its energy and analytical depth. Beyond football, McLaughlin has covered a range of sports, including presenting Premier Sports’ EPCR Challenge Cup rugby coverage and BBC Scotland’s boxing broadcasts. In 2023, she publicly shared her ADHD diagnosis at age 38, highlighting her commitment to authenticity. She continues to be a respected figure in sports journalism.
