PJ Sin Suela is the stage name of Pedro Juan Vázquez Bragan, a Puerto Rican rapper and doctor. He graduated from medical school in 2015 before pursuing a musical career. He was born in The Bronx, New York City, and reared in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He’s recognized for his socially minded lyrics, and his track “Cual Es Tu Plan?” featuring Bad Bunny and ejo peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs list in August 2018. In addition, the song charted at number 17 on the Billboard Latin Digital Song Sales list.
Suela took notice of the problems in his native country as his career grew, and following Hurricane Maria in 2017, he gave medical help to Puerto Ricans. He was the opening act for Puerto Rican rapper Residente in September 2018. In the same month, he was included in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s song “A Forgotten Spot” among many other Puerto Rican musicians. He was named one of Billboard’s “10 Latin Artists to Watch in 2019.” In July 2019, he took part in protests in Puerto Rico, calling for Governor Ricardo Rosselló’s resignation. In August 2019, he collaborated with Guaynaa, Jon Z, and Rafa Pabón on a remix of his hit “La Pela.” In December 2019, he released the first track from his new album, “Por Ti,” a collaboration with Beto Montenegro, the Venezuelan band Rawayana’s lead singer. Suela worked on the tune “Loco Loquito” with Uruguayan singer Jorge Drexler in March 2020.
