Rising star Arturo Castro is quickly becoming one of the most recognisable faces in Latin-American culture and entertainment. The Guatemalan-born actor is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the lovable Jaimé Castro on Comedy Central’s beloved series Broad City, and as David Rodriguez, the violent son of Cali Cartel leader Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela, on the Netflix series Narcos.
He now serves as executive producer, creator, and star of the American variety show Alternatino with Arturo Castro, based on his web-series of the same name. Airing on Comedy Central, it is described as “a sketch show based on Arturo’s experiences as a Latino millennial in the United States”. He also recently starred in an episode of the American television anthology series Room 104.
Having moved to New York at the age of 19 to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Castro started his career by performing in theatre. He has featured in over a dozen off-Broadway productions, including the Pulitzer Prize-nominated play ‘Elliot A Soldier’s Fugue’ and ‘Ghost Dancer’, before embarking on a career in television and film. Castro’s eclectic range of performances exemplifies his diversity and impressive acting capability, marking him as not only a contemporary actor of notable acclaim, but a potential superstar in years to come.
