The towering sportsman Qyntel Woods is a former professional basketball short forward, who also played at the shooting guard position. He most famously shot-hoops for the Portland Trail Blazers, and the New York Knicks of the NBA, and was a championship winner with the Polish side Asseco Prokum Gdynia.
Born and raised in Memphis, Woods started playing basketball during his High School years. After graduating he committed to play at the University of Memphis, but was an early entry candidate in the 2002 NBA draft and turned professional when he was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers. The 2004-05 season was filled with off-court trouble and so he was suspended and eventually released by the Blazers. He then joined the Miami Heat in 2005. He played three regular season games and was then traded to the Boston Celtics in August. He ended up being waved and was later signed by the New York Knicks in December.
In July 2007 Woods started playing basketball in Europe, firstly with the Greek side Olympiacos, and then it Italy with Fortitudo Pallacanestro Bologna. He then moved to Poland where he had the best years of his career in Europe, helping Asseco Prokum Gdynia win the Polish national league championship, as well as being named Polish League Top Scorer and Polish League Finals MVP in 2009, and Polish League All-Star Game and Polish League MVP 2010. He also played in Russia, Israel, Spain, and France. He returning to Poland in 2017, where he ended his career playing a second stint for AZS Koszalin until 2019.
