Rachel Botsman is a British author and academic. She is a world-renowned expert on trust and technology in the modern world, and has been recognised as one of the world’s 50 most influential management thinkers and named as a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum. Her TED talks have been viewed more than four million times. She is currently a Trust Fellow at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School.
Botsman is the author of two groundbreaking books. The first, What’s Mine is Yours, predicted the rise of the ‘sharing economy’ and was subsequently named by TIME as one of the “Ten Ideas That Will Change the World”, and by Thinkers50 as the 2015 Breakthrough Idea. Her highly acclaimed second book, Who Can You Trust?, is a profound exploration of trust issues in the wild field of technology and artificial intelligence, and was shortlisted for the Business Book Awards. She is a regular writer and contributor in leading international publications including The New York Times; The Wall Street Journal; Harvard Business Review; The Economist; and The Guardian; and is a contributing editor at Wired.
Botsman received a Degree in Fine Art from the University of Oxford and attended Harvard University for her postgraduate studies. She worked as a brand-consultant and was a Director at the William J. Clinton Foundation. She has advised boards, senior leaders and governments around the world, and has been invited to speak to companies as diverse as Accenture; Goldman Sachs; Xero; Microsoft; and Salesforce; and at conferences such as the Drucker Forum; the World of Business Forum; and the World Economic Forum. She regularly features in the media, providing commentary for the likes of the BBC; CNN; NPR; and ABC, and hosts the podcast, Trust Issues. She currently sits on the board of the National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA).
