Raviv Ullman was born on January 24, 1986, in Eilat, Israel, to American parents. His family, who are Jewish, moved to Connecticut, USA, when he was a year old. Ullman’s first professional acting role was as Louis in the national touring company of “The King and I”. He continued to develop his theatrical career, working with notable New York theater companies such as Roundabout, Atlantic, Second Stage, and The New Group. He also performed in various regional theater productions, including “Dead End” at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles, California. Ullman received a Best Actor award nomination from the Connecticut Critics Circle Awards for his portrayal of Stanley in “A Rosen by Any Other Name” during the 1998-1999 season.
Ullman gained recognition for his starring role as Phil Diffy in the Disney Channel series “Phil of the Future” (2004–2006). During this period, he also featured in The Walt Disney Company’s made-for-TV movie “Pixel Perfect” (2004) and ABC Family’s “Searching for David’s Heart” (2004). His television appearances included guest roles on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “That’s So Raven.” In film, Ullman’s credits include “The Big Bad Swim” (2006), “Driftwood” (2006), “Normal Adolescent Behavior” (2007), and “Prom Wars” (2008). He later transitioned to using his birth name, Raviv, professionally while working on projects such as the Lifetime sitcom “Rita Rocks” (2008–2009).
Beyond acting, Ullman is also a musician and filmmaker. He was a member of the band His Orchestra, which released its debut album “Field Guide to the Wilds” in 2009. He also played with Reputante and was part of the initial formation of Lolawolf with Zoë Kravitz. His directorial debut, the documentary “Standing Ground,” explores the Standing Rock protests and is currently in post-production. Ullman also co-hosts “The Study,” a podcast series focusing on the Torah, demonstrating his continued engagement with diverse creative and intellectual pursuits.
