Reginald Dennis Odell II, known professionally as Reggie Brown, was born in 1980 in Maywood, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He experienced a challenging early life, being raised by a single mother after his parents separated when he was five. His stepfather, Lawrence Brown, passed away from leukemia when Reggie was 13. Brown attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign before leaving to pursue a modeling career, eventually signing with Ford Model Management. He further honed his performance skills by enrolling in voice and acting classes at The Acting Studios Chicago.
From 2006 to 2008, Brown worked as a blogger for WMAQ-TV’s Street Team, covering local events. His contributions to the coverage of Looptopia Live earned him an Emmy for ‘Outstanding Achievement for Alternate Media/ New Media Interactivity’ from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts And Sciences in September 2008. This incident led to an invitation from Bill Maher to perform on HBO’s ‘Real Time with Bill Maher.’ He has since achieved global recognition through viral YouTube videos, including the ‘Obama Gangnam Style!’ parody, which garnered over 100 million views worldwide.
