Robert Costa is at the forefront of American journalism, as a national political reporter for the Washington Post and with appearances on NBC and PBS.
Although he reported for The Buck County Courier Times and appeared on student network PHS-TV in his youth, Costa’s career really began when he was awarded a Robert L Bartley Fellowship by The Wall Street Review. The highly competitive internship programme helped him to secure a position at the National Review in 2010, and in 2012 the magazine awarded him the position of Washington editor. Whilst working for the publication, he also began to make appearances on political news channels NBC and MSNBC. He played a huge role in the effective reporting of the 2013 United States federal government shutdown, with praise from the likes of The New Republic and Slate. This cemented his position in the national news reporting world, resulting in a move to mainstream publication The Washington Post. There, he continued to gain attention and respect for his well-researched and sourced reporting. He was appointed a political analyst for NBC and MSNBC in 2015, and as part of his role has interviewed President Donald Trump numerous times.
With his career going from strength to strength, Costa is now the permanent moderator for Washington Week’s news magazine programme on PBS, and often hosts the top names in journalism on the show.
