A powerful and inspirational voice for the Indigenous community, Sarain Fox is an artist, activist, dancer, choreographer, television host and storyteller. She is also a brand ambassador, stylist and content producer, and has appeared frequently on television including the award-winning series RISE (Viceland), APTN’s Future History and Cut-off (Viceland). Fox has used her platform to help bring the talent and knowledge of Indigenous people, brands and designers to prominence, reaching thousands of people across North America.
Born in Batchawana First Nation in Ontario, Canada, she grew up in a family of storytellers with her mother and great aunt passing on ancient teachings from past generations. Her family also instilled a strong sense of being proud of her Indigenous roots. Fox has worked with some of the biggest international brands in the world, including Canada Goose, Nike N7, Sephora and Manitobah Mukluks, her successful campaigns often highlighting her culture and bringing it into the mainstream.
Fox previously trained at a number of prestigious dance faculties including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Quinte Ballet School, and The Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre, and she has appeared on stage and in music videos with numerous artists around the world including Once a Tree, as Buffy Saint Marie, A Tribe Called Red and Digging Roots. She was also the lead and choreographer in Theatre New Brunswick’s’ The Eighth Fire and her solo work – The Red Road Block – premiered at the Harbourfront Centre Toronto. She is also known for appearing as Sacheen Little Feather in The Andy Warhol Interview Project and the CBC TV drama Jericho. A rising star, her projects in the film industry continue to open new doors and opportunities for Indigenous youths.
