Savannah Elizabeth Louise Miller was born on December 30, 1978, in British Hong Kong. Her father, Edwin Miller, was an American art dealer, and her mother, Josephine Miller, was a retired British model. The family relocated to London in the 1980s. Miller pursued her education at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, where she graduated in 2004 with a first-class honours BA degree in Fashion and Knitwear. Her early career started with positions at established fashion houses, including Alexander McQueen and Matthew Williamson, where she gained foundational experience in design.
In 2006, Miller collaborated with her sister, Sienna Miller, to launch a fashion label named “Twenty8Twelve,” backed by Pepe Jeans. This venture debuted its first collection in September 2007, with both sisters serving as joint creative directors. Miller remained with Twenty8Twelve until October 2012. Following her departure, she launched her individual collection, “Savannah,” which initially focused on “luxurious basics” and was marketed through Nelly.com. This led to a Spring 2013 collection, noted for its 1970s influence. The “Savannah” line’s logo is a swallow. In 2016, she launched her eponymous bridal collection, receiving recognition for her elevated bohemian styles.
Miller has continued to evolve her design presence, making a return to ready-to-wear in 2023 with the launch of Vivere, a womenswear brand described as ‘new smart.’ Her bridal designs are characterized by thoughtful concepts that aim to celebrate individuality through elegant, understated, and timeless structures. She has also periodically engaged in modeling, appearing on the covers of publications such as Nylon magazine and Sunday Times Style. Miller was married to Nick Skinner from 2005 to 2018, and in December 2022, she married James Whewell.
