Scott Waites is an accomplished English professional darts player competing in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments. A two-time BDO World Darts Champion, he secured titles in both 2013 and 2016. Waites has also claimed victories in several prestigious events, including the Winmau World Masters and the WDF World Cup singles. Notably, he made history by winning the 2010 Grand Slam of Darts, becoming the first BDO player to achieve this feat.
At the 2015 World Championship, Waites began with a narrow 3–2 victory over Sam Hewson but faced a tough second-round match against Ross Montgomery, where he was defeated 4–0. Later that year, he had to withdraw from the World Trophy due to shoulder surgery, which sidelined him for several months. However, he made a strong comeback in March, winning the British Classic by overcoming Glen Durrant in the final and reaching four additional finals in that period.
Entering the 2016 World Championship as the ninth seed, Waites triumphed again, defeating Canada’s Jeff Smith 7–1 in the final to secure his second world title. This victory further cemented his reputation as a top competitor in darts.
In 2019, after his first-round victory at the BDO World Championship, Waites announced his intention to transition to the PDC by participating in Q School. Although he initially struggled to secure a tour card, he eventually succeeded at the 2020 Q School, defeating Keane Barry in a playoff match to earn a two-year PDC Tour Card. In his 2021 World Championship debut, Waites defeated Matt Campbell but was narrowly eliminated in the second round by Nathan Aspinall despite having four match darts. As he continues his career in the PDC, Waites remains a notable presence in the sport.
