Seth Meyers

Seth Adam Meyers was born on December 28, 1973, in Evanston, Illinois, and raised in Okemos, Michigan, and Bedford, New Hampshire. He attended Northwestern University, majoring in film and television production, and began his comedy career in improv, performing with the Mee-Ow Show and later with Boom Chicago in Amsterdam. His early experiences in improv laid the groundwork for his eventual recruitment by “Saturday Night Live.” Meyers joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” in 2001, where he quickly became a pivotal figure. He was promoted to writing supervisor in 2005 and then co-head writer in 2006, eventually becoming the sole head writer. He co-anchored the iconic “Weekend Update” segment with Amy Poehler starting in 2006, continuing as a solo anchor from 2008 to 2013, and briefly alongside Cecily Strong before his departure in 2014. During his tenure, Meyers was recognized for creating impactful sketches, including Tina Fey’s portrayal of Sarah Palin, and developing recurring popular segments like “Really!?! with Seth and Amy.” He received two Primetime Emmy Awards for his writing contributions to “Saturday Night Live.”

In 2014, Meyers transitioned to host NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” succeeding Jimmy Fallon. His move marked a significant career progression, allowing him to infuse his distinct comedic voice and political commentary into a late-night talk show format. Under his leadership, “Late Night” has explored various segments, including “A Closer Look” which gained popularity for its in-depth comedic takes on current events. Beyond television, Meyers has engaged in other creative pursuits, including co-writing the Marvel comic “Spider-Man: The Short Halloween” in 2009 and co-creating the animated series “The Awesomes” for Hulu, which ran from 2013 to 2015. He has also hosted numerous awards ceremonies, such as the Webby Awards, the ESPY Awards, and the Golden Globe Awards, showcasing his versatility as a presenter. In recent years, he launched podcasts like “Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers” and “Strike Force Five,” further diversifying his media presence.
