Sophie Lara Winkleman was born on August 5, 1980, in London, England. She pursued her education in English literature at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where she engaged with the Cambridge Footlights comedy troupe, contributing to and performing in their Perrier Award-nominated revue, “Far Too Happy.” Her early career also included joining the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain in 1997. Winkleman’s diverse talents extend to singing as a soprano, as demonstrated in the ‘First Love’ series for Sky Arts.

Her acting career features recurring roles in several prominent television series. She played Big Suze in “Peep Show” from 2005 to 2010 and held various roles in “Harry & Paul” between 2007 and 2012. Her film credits include playing Debbie Levine in “Suzie Gold” (2004) and an older Susan Pevensie in “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” (2005). More recently, she appeared as The Countess in “Wonka” (2023) and the Duchess of Rochester in “Belgravia: The Next Chapter” (2024). Sophie Winkleman also made her American television debut as the lead in the NBC sitcom “100 Questions” (2010), and was a recurring guest on “Two and a Half Men” as Zoey from 2011 to 2015.

Beyond her acting achievements, Winkleman has actively engaged in charitable work. In June 2020, she became a royal patron of the Children’s Surgery Foundation. The following month, she was appointed the first female patron of School-Home Support, an organization for which she also presented the BBC Radio 4 Appeal in June 2022. She has also served as an ambassador for The Big Issue, engaging directly with vendors to support the cause.
