Olympian Takako Oguchi is a skeleton racer from Japan. She has been competing since 2003 and joined the Japanese national team in 2005. Oguchi qualified for the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018. She uses a Bromley sled.
Oguchi was born on August 8, 1984, in Wajima, a city located in Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan. Oguchi made her debut in an official international match during the 2006–07 North American Cup season in Calgary, where she finished 23rd. She did not play in either the 2007-2008 or 2008-2009 seasons. In 2009–10, she made a comeback and qualified for the Intercontinental Cup in 2012–13. She competed in her first World Cup race in 2013–14 at Calgary, finishing 19th. Since then, she has divided her time between the ICC and World Cup circuits. Her best World Cup placing was 13th at Lake Placid in 2016. She placed 21st at the 2017 World Championships and 26th overall at the end of the 2016–17 season.
In January 2018, the Japan Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton Federation announced that Oguchi would compete for Japan in the women’s skeleton event at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. The JBLSF announced their decision to include Oguchi after initially being informed by the sport’s governing body that Japan did not gain a quota spot in the women’s skeleton. Oguchi ultimately placed 18th in the skeleton event.
