Tamsin Egerton is an English actor who first made her name as a child star on television before graduating to the big screen. She is currently best known for playing Chelsea Parker in the 2000s reboot of the classic St Trinian’s film franchise and roles in numerous other British films, including Grimsby, Keeping Mum, The Look of Love, and Queen and Country. In 2011, she played arguably her biggest television role to date when she starred as Guinevere in the award-nominated series Camelot. Her most recent roles include 2019’s Balance, Not Symmetry.
Egerton has been an actor since she was six years old. She began attending a local youth theatre group, and by the age of 13, she was appearing on stage for the Royal Shakespeare Company and making her television debut in The Mists of Avalon, an American miniseries that was nominated for a Primetime Emmy. The downside of her early success was jealousy, and she has spoken publicly about how she was bullied at school for being a child star. Nevertheless, she continued to pursue her dream with prominent parts in Napoleon (then the most expensive European miniseries ever made) and the CITV comedy Sir Gadabout: The Worst Knight in the Land.
In 2005, Egerton made her film debut in Keeping Mum, a British black comedy film that saw her acting alongside heavyweights such as Maggie Smith, Patrick Swayze, and Rowan Atkinson. Two years later, she was one of the principal cast of St. Trinian’s, a reboot of the classic British film series of the 1950s and 1960s. The film became one of the most successful British indie movies of recent times and spawned a 2009 sequel.
