About

Robert James Rallison, known online as TheOdd1sOut, was born on May 14, 1996, in Chandler, Arizona. He began his artistic journey by creating webcomics under the title “TheOdd1sOut,” uploading his first comic strip to Tumblr in June 2012 at the age of 16. These early comics, featuring characteristic “marshmallow people” and focusing on lighthearted themes, helped him establish a distinctive art style and gain a following. By September 2016, his webcomic output had reached approximately 400 strips, accumulating 100 followers after his first 100 comics and solidifying his presence as a webcomic artist.

In August 2014, Rallison expanded his creative efforts by launching his YouTube channel, initially named “theodd1sout comic.” On this platform, he translated his storytelling approach into animated videos where he discussed personal experiences, thoughts, and opinions using his signature “marshmallow people” characters. His channel experienced rapid growth, reaching 100,000 subscribers by March 2016 and one million subscribers by July 2016. This success led him to pivot to a full-time career in content creation, which included dropping out of college to dedicate himself to his burgeoning online presence. In December 2017, he launched a secondary YouTube channel, TheOdd2sOut, for non-animation content such as gaming, which quickly reached one million subscribers by April 2018. His main channel continued its exponential growth, exceeding 10 million subscribers by January 2019, further cementing his status as a prominent figure in online animation.

Beyond YouTube, Rallison has diversified his career into various media. He authored three books, beginning with “The Odd 1s Out: How to Be Cool and Other Things I Definitely Learned from Growing Up” in July 2018, which was recognized on Publishers Weekly’s bestseller list. He also ventured into game development with the board game “Can’t Catch Harry” and the mobile game “TheOdd1sOut: Let’s Bounce!” Most notably, in June 2022, he announced the development of an animated series titled “Oddballs,” based on his characters, which subsequently premiered on Netflix, where he serves as co-creator, star, and executive producer. These achievements highlight his successful transition from an independent webcomic artist to a multi-faceted content creator across various platforms.
