British diver Tonia Couch was a three-time Olympian whocompeted at the very highest level in her sport. Since retiring, she hasreceived a special recognition award at the British Diving Championships in2018. The end of her 12-year career also brought with it a move into a coachingrole in her home of Plymouth.
One of the most decorated British divers ever, Couch notonly won silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow but also picked upthree European medals in her storied career. Her debut came way back in 2005aged just 16 at the World Championships in Montreal: a diving prodigy, she washeading to the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia only 12 months later.Her career highlight came in 2008 when she reached the final of the individual 10mplatform board. Four years later, Couch also finished fifth in the synchronisedevents at London 2012 and Rio 2016. She has competed with legendary Britishdiver Tom Daley when the pair took part in the 10m mixed synchronised divingevent at the National Cup. Couch will forever be known as a giant of theBritish diving scene, and has made an indelible mark on the history of thesport.
