Professional basketball player Trae Young plays for the Atlanta Hawks, and is known for his hugely successful college career with the Oklahoma Sooners.
The son of a basketball player, Young was always destined for a life on the court. He started playing basketball during his second year at Norman North High School, being named Oklahoma’s Sophomore of the Year in 2015. He was then voted as Oklahoma’s Player of the Year and was one of the most highly sought after players in the 2017 recruiting class. As a five star recruit he was selected by the University of Oklahoma and put in a year of impressive performances for the Oklahoma Sooners. In 2018, despite being eligible for three more seasons of collegiate basketball, Young decided to put himself forward for the NBA Draft, instantly being snapped up by the Atlanta Hawks. He has played for the side ever since, gaining a reputation as a valuable asset to the team with wins against the Cleveland Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves and the Detroit Pistons. He was named to the NBA All Star side in 2020 and the following year made his playoff debut.
This popular player continues to go from strength to strength on the court, and has been featured in the series Rookie on the Rise which followed his campaign to be named Rookie of the Year. He has many more years of success ahead of him and has already secured his place in the sporting history books.
