Football center Trey Hopkins has played for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL) since 2014. Hopkins has brought stability to the center position throughout his time at Cincinnati, and although he faced challenges in 2021 after ACL surgery the veteran center has started to impress once again after his increasing his amount of weekly rehab.
Born in Houston, Texas, Hopkins shone at North Shore High School where he was an All-American, All-State and All-Area. He played in the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl and was a two-time first-team All-District performer on the offensive line. After choosing the University of Texas, his college career saw him appear in all 12 games (four starts) as a freshman in 2010 and helped set a school record against New Mexico State with 359 rushing yards, 715 total yards and 356 passing yards.
Hopkins began his professional career when he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2014, and he became a full-time starter three years later. He became Cincinnati’s number one center in 2019, and was considered among the top performers on the offensive line during his two seasons as the starting center.
In 2019 he signed a $20.4 million, three year contract extension with the Bengals until the 2022 season. After fighting back strongly following his surgery Hopkins had an incredible game at the end of 2021 and is beginning to look like his formidable old self once again.
