The dashingly handsome Wi Ha-joon is an incredibly popular and acclaimed young Korean actor and model best known for his appearance in the Netflix survival series, Squid Game, in which he plays the police officer Hwang Jun-ho.
Born and raised in Wando County, South Korea, Wi Ha-joon enrolled at Sungkyul University, where he majored in Theater and graduated with honours. In his senior year, he relocated to Seoul and enrolled in an acting school in the hopes of pursuing an acting career. He was also a member of his school’s dance club and attended an acting academy. He made his acting debut in the 2012 short, Peace in Them. Since then he has gone on to feature and star in numerous productions, including 2015’s Bad Guys Always Die, 2017’s The Chase, 2019’s Girl Cops, and 2021’s Midnight. He has been nominated three time for Best New Actor for his turns in 2018’s Something in the Rain, 2019’s Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, and for the 2019 TV series Romance is a Bonus Book. He broke into Korean television in 2016 with a role in Goodbye Mr. Black. But it was when he took the role as a detective in the Netflix survival series, Squid Game, that he gained international fame.
