The Professional Russian freestyle wrestler, Zaur Uguev is an international gold-medal-winning athlete and two-time world wrestling champion.
Having only recently appeared on the international freestyle wrestling scene, competing in the 57kg category, Uguev joined the Russian National Wrestling Team at the age of 22 and quickly went on to show his skills when he won his first Championship at the 2017 Russian Nationals, held in Nazran. This initial success allowed him to compete at his first-ever World Championships later that year in Paris. Since then Uguev has gone on to enjoy a highly successful wrestling career, winning a bronze at the 2017 European Championships in Novi Sad and his second gold during the same year at the Golden Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin. Continuing with his top performances, Uguev has gone on two enjoy a further two successful years, winning gold again at the 2018 Golden Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin, along with a silver at the European Championships in Kaspiysk. He also took home his second Russian Championships gold medal during the same year in Odinstovo. 2019 later saw Uguev add to his titles a gold at the Ali Aliyev Memorial event in Kaspiysk and a bronze at the European Games in Minsk.
In addition to his array of medal-wins, Uguev is also a two-time consecutive World Wrestling Champion in the 57kg category, following his two successful gold-medal wins at the 2018 championships in Budapest and again at the 2019 competition held in Nur-Sultan.
