International freestyle wrestler Beka Lomtadze from Georgia has enjoyed many a successful competition throughout his career in the 61kg category.
A top athlete who considers wrestling as a way of life, Lomtadze has been an active freestyle wrestler since he was 13. After making his senior wrestling debut at the 2011 G. Kartozia & V. Balavadze Price competition, Lomtadze went on to win his first medal at the 2014 Stepan Sargsyan Tournament. After a great performance in the same year at his first European and World Championships, Lomtadze soon went on to win his second silver medal the following year during the 2015 European Games in Baku. A consistent competitor, Lomtadze’s skill in freestyle wrestling has gone on to see him add numerous medals to his growing collection, including three consecutive silver medals at the European Championships during 2018, 2019 and 2020, as well as a silver at the 2016 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest. After taking home his first gold medal at the 2016 European National Cup, Lomtadze has since won golds at the 2017, 2018 & 2019 Kartozia & V. Balavadze Price competition and at the 2019 Henri Deglane Challenge.
Now a familiar face at the World Wrestling Championships in the 61kg category, it was during 2019 in Nur-Sultan that Lomtadze went on to win his first gold at the competition, defeating the favourite Magomedrasul Idrisov, thus making him a wrestling world champion.
