MN2S Spotlight Showcase: Dat Brass, Toya Delazy, Paigey Cakey | News | MN2S

On Tuesday 29th January, three of our most exciting artists headed down to Camden Assembly to play a one-off show. Check out the video below.

Camden Assembly’s ‘Spotlight’ concert series ran throughout January, highlighting a thrilling variety of rising talents set to dominate in 2019. The Assembly has partnered with brands, agencies and curators, asking that they put forward new and emerging artists, giving them a chance to showcase their music live on stage for an audience of fans and industry insiders.

Dat Brass, Toya Delazy and Paigey Cakey performed at the MN2S Spotlight Showcase, an event organised by MN2S agent Abi Hand. Three of our most exciting young artists, they represent a diverse cross-section of genres that includes hip-hop, grime, and electronica. South African artist Toya Delazy kicked things off in style, singing and rapping her way through a fiery set that showcased her singular talents. Manipulating her self-produced beats from a MIDI controller while clad in her signature, offbeat outfit and mask, she electrified the Camden Assembly with closing track ‘London Town’, setting a high bar for Dat Brass and Paigey Cakey to follow.

Strutting on stage soon after was Paigey Cakey, a British rapper and singer that’s part of the next generation of UK grime artists. After boldly rattling off verses from classic tracks such as 2016’s ‘Patterns’, and her newly-released mixtape Flavours, she was mobbed by a throng of fans upon exiting the stage. An impressively confident performance, it came as no surprise: Paigey has previously opened for the likes of Lil Kim, Migos, The Game and Azealia Banks.

UK hip-hop brass outfit Dat Brass rounded off the evening, amplifying the energy even further with a high-voltage set that featured live MCing, turntable wizardry, and – of course – the inimitable sound of an uproarious 8-piece brass band. A roof-raising expert, Dat Brass MC Looby had the entire Camden Assembly jumping up and down by the end of the evening.

Our Spotlight Showcase after-video was filmed and produced by Sammy Jetter Kell.
