Little Boots to Play All-Female Music Festival | News | MN2S

Award-winning DJ, producer and singer Little Boots is set to play the inaugural Together Fest, a festival aiming to highlight women in house, hip-hop and electronic music, in San Francisco this October.

Together Fest was founded by San Francisco DJ Ms. Jackson and event director Audrey Joseph in an attempt to shine a light on talented female artists who are often denied spots on other festival lineups because of their gender.

Though female DJs are not explicitly barred from playing major festivals, there is a clear gender bias in the industry and amongst festival bookings in general. This year, Huffington Post found that 78% of performers at major festivals were all male, and just two weeks ago Thump found that electronic festivals are especially male-dominated. This is the case despite the wealth of commercially and critically popular music from female artists who were not represented in festival lineups, and the frankly mediocre music produced by some of the male performers who were.

Together Fest aims to shift this imbalance with an all-female lineup featuring Little Boots, Dani Deahl, Club Aerobics, Brazzabelle and TT the Artist. On gender bias in the industry, Little Boots has said “Although there are many opinions about whether all-female festivals are a way to change this, I think it definitely opens up a lot of healthy awareness and discussion.” She added that she is very excited to play Together Fest as “the line up is great regardless of the gender.”

Book Little Boots now for a big DJ set.
