Producer and DJ Tech Wrecks brings a unique blend of House, Tech House, and Trance rooted in early inspirations and hands-on experimentation.
Beginning his journey into music crafting productions on Music 2000 for the PlayStation, he has evolved into a focused and forward-thinking artist with releases on respected imprints like King Street Sounds. Now working with MN2S Label Services, Tech Wrecks is sharpening his creative vision and preparing a fresh wave of new material. In this Q&A, he reflects on his early days, latest projects, signature sound, and the lessons he’s learned along the way.
How did you get into music? What is your musical background?
Started producing on Music 2000/3000 back on the PS1/PS2 days, my Dad got me into House and Trance Music when he played vinyl in our House; introduced me to some of the best music I will ever hear in my life, from a very young age, then got my first Novation keyboard and tried to make some Trance at first, then tried to mix/edit it on a holiday to visit my Aunt in Australia; really wish I still had those early edits on Sony ACID PRO… I could rework them into absolute weapons now!!!
Tell us about your first release – what was special about that one?
My first release was Fortuda on King Street Sounds, in New York. Was great to be on the same roster as Kerri Chandler! Then I also released Antique Land on King Street Sounds.
Tell us about the latest project you worked on?
Right now I’m finishing off “HRFC”, “U Know What” & “Haus Goddess”; 3 Tech House tracks, then onto finishing some other Trance tracks I’m really feeling, and the Radio Edit of “Age of Trance” too. I’ve got more Trance in the pipeline!
Could you describe your musical style and creative vision?
If I’m inspired by historical times, art and culture, try to add sound FX/Atmosphere that ties me into this mindset. I love most four on the floor grooves, but will focus more on the Tech-House, House & Trance areas for now again. Tech Wrecks is primarily gonna focus on 128-148bpm releases.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of entering the music industry?
It’s all about the music; so you have to get your samples right for your sound. All the engineering in the world won’t change your samples. Buy a solid sampler. Knowing 10 plugins well is better than owning 100 plugins and being clueless.
What are your plans for the rest of the year and beyond?
Looking to release more music on solid labels, merge Trance elements into Minimal-esque Deep Tech, get more DJ sets locked in and travel a bit more, finally. Need to use this French eclecticly, it’s been laying dormant for a while now. Definitely more studio time (so much more music to release!)
What have you enjoyed about working with MN2S?
Great having a team to talk to and communicate ideas, art, and balance out releases, makes the world of difference, helps clear your head up a bit to focus on the music.
