Broadway star Courtney Reed returns to the same stage she performed on as a child in a heartwarming homecoming performance courtesy of MN2S.
Courtney Reed performed an emotional concert at Elgin, Illinois’ Hemmens Cultural Center last week. Accompanied by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the performance saw Reed inaugurate the first presenting season in over a decade at the newly-renovated venue, a stage which she performed on in some of the very first roles of her career: at only age 6, Reed was part of the cast for Cinderella with Elgin’s Children’s Theatre, and by age 12, her starring role as Annie in the Fox Valley Theatre Company’s production had solidified her passion for performance. On January 10th, Reed returned to the Cultural Center’s stage for the first time in years for a well-attended homecoming show.

Known best as the original Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway, which brought her a Grammy nomination, Courtney Reed has built an impressive theater career. She recently took on the lead role of Satine in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, first touring nationally before joining the Broadway production. Earlier in her career, she was part of the final Broadway cast of In The Heights, where she played Carla and served as understudy for both Nina and Vanessa. She made her first Broadway appearance in Mamma Mia! and later delivered a powerful performance in the critically successful Cambodian Rock Band at The Signature Theatre before COVID-19 hit. Reed has also made her mark on television, with roles in various shows including Search Party, The Affair, Law & Order: SVU, White Collar, NYC 22, Liza on Demand, and CSI: NY. Additionally, she serves as a co-producer for the internationally touring Disney Princess the Concert.
