The acid-jazz heavyweights are back in style with a self-titled project and a new single produced by Mark Ronson.
Back in April, The Brand New Heavies surprised and delighted fans with the unexpected release of a new single. “Getaway” saw them reunite with singer and former collaborator N’Dea Davenport, stoking anticipation for a full-blown return to the music scene this year.
That promise has been fulfilled with the release of TBNH, their first album since 2014’s Sweet Freaks. Featuring vocal contributions from Beverley Knight, Siedah Garrett, Angie Stone, Honey LaRochelle and Angela Ricci, the record is scheduled for release on September 6th, commemorating the 30th anniversary of their debut album.
Simon Bartholemew and Andrew Levy have shared a new single from the album. ‘These Walls’ is a cover of the Kendrick Lamar track of the same name, produced by super-producer Mark Ronson of ‘Uptown Funk’ fame. Take a listen below, and pre-order the album here.
The band continues to tour and have been performing all over including headlining this years Mostly Jazz Festival.
