While the professional sector of the dance music industry is well catered for in terms of conferences and industry get-togethers, there has been little specifically targeted at younger enthusiasts who are looking to break into the industry. That’s why MN2S is excited about Take Note – London’s new ‘entry level’ conference that aims to guide the next generation into the industry.
Taking place at East London’s acclaimed Second Home shared workspace in Spitalfields on Saturday 21 November, with panels, talks, interviews and networking sessions from 10AM until 7PM. A slew of influential industry figures and artists will feature across the day, including DJ Yoda, Ben Pearce, Kidnap Kid, Resident Advisor co-founder Nick Sabine and Mixmag’s Duncan Dick.
MN2S agent Dave Alcock will also feature on a panel entitled ‘Lifestyle Balance In Music’, looking at how artists and music professionals need to take care not to succumb to the temptations of the lifestyle that can go with working in the industry.
The promoters of the event have also set up a scheme called ‘Inspire Or Hire’, offering the chance for people to apply for internships with the likes of Resident Advisor, Mixmag and Hospital Records, as well as the chance to have face-to-face meetings with professionals and to ask them for advice or to pitch ideas to them. Point Blank Music School will also be on hand offering technical demonstrations and panel discussions. An afterparty and networking event will also be held at Night Tales presents Tokyo Nights a short walk away, with a very special guest DJ headlining.
