Megan Thee Stallion Joins California’s Youth Suicide Prevention Efforts with New “Never a Bother” Campaign | MN2S

Grammy-Winning Artist and Mental Health Advocate Partners with California Department of Public Health to Raise Awareness of Suicide Prevention Resources for Youth

In honor of World Mental Health Day, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has partnered with three-time Grammy-winning artist and mental health advocate Megan Thee Stallion to launch the “Never a Bother” campaign, aimed at raising awareness of suicide prevention tools and resources for California’s youth. This initiative seeks to break down barriers to asking for support and empower young people to access life-saving mental health resources.

The “Never a Bother” campaign was co-created with California’s youth and developed under the guidance of CDPH’s Office of Suicide Prevention to address the urgent mental health challenges faced by young Californians. Suicide remains the second leading cause of death among youth aged 10-25 in the state, a stark reality that underscores the importance of this initiative. The campaign also focuses on youth disproportionately impacted by suicide, providing culturally relevant resources and support.

Megan Thee Stallion, known for her candid discussions on mental health, shares a heartfelt message in a newly released campaign video posted on her Instagram, TikTok, and the campaign’s website.

“When I’m going through patches of either anxiety or sadness, I think about when I was at my lowest and how far I’ve come. Everything isn’t always solvable, and you don’t have to be tough all the time. You’re not the only one going through what you’re going through, and you never know who you can help by sharing your experience. Hotties, you are never a bother.”

Between 2018 and 2022, suicide was the second leading cause of death among California’s youth, with the crisis disproportionately affecting marginalized groups. The “Never a Bother” campaign aims to reduce stigma, foster open conversations about mental health, and make resources more accessible.

Megan recently spoke with Billboard’s Executive Director of Hip-Hop/R&B, Gail Mitchell, to share her own mental health journey and highlight the resources offered through the campaign. During the interview, Megan stressed the importance of transparency in mental health conversations and underscored the urgency of providing youth with the support they need.

Megan Thee Stallion has been a prominent advocate for mental health awareness, previously partnering with the Seize the Awkward campaign to spread messages of hope and resource access. As the founder of the Pete and Thomas Foundation, Megan continues her commitment to supporting underserved communities, including women, children, and senior citizens.

In addition to the video on Megan’s social channels, the “Never a Bother” campaign will distribute content across its own social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, ensuring that the message reaches a broad audience of young people in need. The “Never a Bother” campaign is part of the larger Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), an effort by the California Health and Human Services Agency to promote mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and intervention skills. The campaign is designed to encourage youth to seek help and access available crisis resources.
