With festival season fast approaching, we take a look at the latest lineups, locations and details of music festivals in the UK to help you decide where to set up camp this summer.

Glastonbury

Where: Worthy Farm, Somerset

When: 21st – 25th June 2017

Who: Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Solange, Sampha, DJ Shadow

No list of UK festivals could be complete without the biggest of them all. This year’s Glastonbury lineup has not been announced in full, but as usual it is shaping up to be an eclectic mix of mainstream chart-climbers, critical darlings and underground influencers.

Electronic music fans should head straight for the Block9, Silver Hayes and Arcadia areas, where a lineup of great DJ talent will play sets in fully-immersive themed surroundings.

Bestival

Where: Lulworth Estate, Dorset

When: 7-10 September 2017

Who: A Tribe Called Quest, Pet Shop Boys, Justice, Fatman Scoop, Reggae Roast, Hackney Colliery Band

This year’s Bestival has one of its biggest headliners to date in A Tribe Called Quest, who are fresh off the release of their critically lauded new album, playing one of their only UK shows. Joining them on the bill are Fatman Scoop, Reggae Roast who will be joined by MC Natty Campbell on vocals, and Hackney Colliery Band, whose LIVE album will have been released ahead of the festival.

House of Common

Where: Clapham Common, London

When: 28 August 2017 (Bank Holiday Monday)

Who: Madness, Craig Charles, De La Soul, Hackney Colliery Band, Dawn Penn, Toddla T

Madness’ annual House of Common festival on Clapham Common is usually, well, madness. With the band themselves headlining – their only London show for 2017, no less – and a lineup of special guests, the quality of the music will be far from common.

The one-day event is perfect for the festival-goer who likes to sleep in their own bed. De La Soul’s appearance is being billed as a “London festival exclusive”, meaning it might be one of the few chances fans get to see the Hip-Hop legends in concert this side of the pond.

Hackney Colliery Band are a perfect addition to the bill, with their Soulful Jazz setting the scene for Madness’ horn-filled Pop.

Preckyfest

Where: St Helens, Merseyside

When: 1st July 2017

Who: Toploader, Dodgy, Jo Whiley, Paul Young, Louisa Johnson, Johnny Vegas

Smaller than some of the other festivals on this list, but no less enjoyable for those in attendance, Preckyfest was set up by the Steve Prescott Foundation in honour of the late St Helens rugby league legend. Prescott lost his battle with a rare form of cancer in 2013, but before he passed away he set up the foundation to help raise awareness. The festival continues his work.

This year’s lineup includes Indie Pop icons Toploader, who will be bringing their new material to the festival; Britpop heroes Dodgy; X Factor champion Louisa Johnson, and many more.

Strawberries & Creem

Where: Haggis Farm, Cambridgeshire

When: 17 June 2017

Who: Shaggy, Wiley, AJ Tracey, Artful Dodger, Ellie Cocks, Mike Skinner, Donae’O, General Levy, So Solid Crew

Another one-day event, Strawberries & Creem festival has gathered some of the best artists from the worlds of Grime, House, UK Garage and a whole host of underground genres in what is sure to be truly the creem of the festival crop.

Headliner Shaggy can bring the big hits, while his supporting lineup will no doubt enthrall the crowd with performances of their underground classics. Artful Dodger will give festival-goers a much-needed Garage fix, and DJ Ellie Cocks will bring her trendsetting selections to the festival scene.

Lovebox

Where: Victoria Park, London

When: 14-15 July 2017

Who: Frank Ocean, Solange, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Sampha, Kaytranada, Kano, Chase & Status, Jamie Jones, Ellie Cocks

In another “London festival exclusive”, the enigmatic Frank Ocean headlines this year’s Lovebox Festival. Joining him on the Friday is a lineup of modern R&B superstars including Sampha, Kaytranada and of course Solange, whose A Seat at the Table album sat alongside Ocean’s Blonde on many Album of the Year 2016 lists.

Representing the old heads, DJ Jazzy Jeff will bringing the good vibes in a DJ set, fresh off the back of his critically acclaimed Chasing Goosebumps album with The PLAYist earlier in the year.

On the Saturday, Ellie Cocks joins a lineup of superstar DJs and underground up-and-comers for more of a House-y electronic fix.
