Under The Influence: Habischman | MN2S

Habischman is rapidly rising up the ranks of the techno and house scene thanks to his chunky grooves. Releases on Defected, Get Physical, VIVa Music and Moda Black have marked him out as one to watch since he graduated from Red Bull Music Academy back in 2008 (the same year as Skepta and Jamie Woon, no less).

He’s collaborated with the likes of Thomas Gandey, Cari Golden, Louisahhh and Hot Since 82, with their ‘Leave Me’ collaboration racking up over 600,000 plays online and reaching #2 in Beatport’s Deep House Chart. A hot remix of the track from Dubfire is also doing the damage and helping to spread this exciting producer’s name far and wide.

Look out for a remix of Quivver’s ‘Wait For You’ on Dave Seaman’s Selador imprint in the coming months, plus a release on Spanish label Sincopat. For now, check out his selections in our Under The Influence series, where we invite MN2S artists to share stories about the musicians that inspired them to do what they do.

Michael Jackson

I always loved dancing – or breakdancing, I should say – and Michael Jackson’s music was one of the first things that dragged me into ‘dance music’. Unique dance moves and great catchy rhythms always made me move, and that is why I got into dance music: to make people move on the dancefloor. I also did a bootleg remix of ‘Thriller’, one of his biggest hits, just to play in my sets.

Sasha

When it comes to great music production and DJing, Sasha is the one who does it all. I have been following his sets and production for a very long time. The way he re-edited musical layers and made those ‘Involver’ series through his live re-editing and unique style simply opened my eyes to a better music production and DJing. I remember watching Sasha’s Delta Heavy tour DVD a lot.

Danny Tenaglia

When I started music production, I got locked into Tenaglia’s tribal beats and dark grooves and that is how I learned to start each track with a deep groove and why I always use lots of percussive elements in my production. I saw Danny for the first time in Dubai years ago and he was super cool and down-to-earth and he played a killer set that really inspired me to become a better producer.

Deep Dish

As an Iranian I’m proud of these guys. Both Ali (Dubfire) and Sharam have been supporting my music for a while, and Dubfire recently remixed my collaboration with Hot Since 82 – ‘Leave Me’ – which got great feedbacks and hit the charts again. Deep Dish’s ‘Junk Science’ was one of the first vinyls that I got and still one of the best electronic albums I have heard, plus their GU Mix compilation GU 21 is still one of my favorite mix compilations. Lots of great memories thanks to these guys.

Moby

I remember the first time I listened to Moby’s music, I couldn’t stop listening to it. It was his ‘Body Rock’ track with a great music video that caught my eyes and ears and I started following his music ever since. Great melody and guitar riffs and catchy groove. As an electronic music producer and DJ, I very much like to listen to deeper profound music and I find Moby’s music different to what everyone else is making these days.
