Italian footballing legend Fabio Capello spoke with the football results platform about Thomas Tuchel’s challenges as England manager in an interview arranged by MN2S PR.
Fabio Capello sat down with football site Flashscore this month to discuss a variety of topics in a wide-ranging interview that spanned England’s new manager, the pressures of international football, and insights on Manchester City and Chelsea. Fabio expressed uncertainty about Thomas Tuchel’s ability to handle the intense pressure of managing England, emphasizing the need for quick adaptation, strong player selection, and media management; he praised Gareth Southgate, but suggested England’s lack of confidence in finals cost them success. When asked if Tuchel could lead England to World Cup glory, Capello simply said, “I don’t know.”

Looking beyond England, Fabio said Manchester City have become too predictable under Pep Guardiola but expects them to bounce back: “He has won a lot of titles, a lot. He is one of the best managers, like (Carlo) Ancelotti. They are the two best managers in the world – they made something different,” he said. “When you manage for a long time and you win a lot of trophies, the mind of the players change. If you always train the same style, then you have to try something different. You can see City now, they try and do the same thing they did before but slowly, it’s not the same. The other teams understand this thing, and when they play against City, they can recover the ball high and score a goal.”
