The Strictly Come Dancing star makes his debut on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk.

Kai Widdrington appeared as a guest panellist on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk on Saturday 28th March, in an appearance arranged by MN2S PR. The long-running show sees guests compete for punditry points while discussing the biggest stories in sport, and Kai joined fellow panellists Bob Mills, Martin Kelner, and Anita Nneka Jones for the episode, which was hosted by Gordon Smart. Kai’s debut on the show was well received, with the Fighting Talk social accounts praising his appearance alongside Anita Nneka Jones as “two solid debuts.”

Born in Southampton, Kai originally looked set to follow in the footsteps of his father, former Premier League footballer Tommy Widdrington, before choosing dance over football as a teenager. By the age of 14, he had become the World Junior Latin American Champion, and in 2012 he reached the final of Britain’s Got Talent. After four seasons as a professional on Ireland’s Dancing with the Stars, Kai joined the cast of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, reaching the final in his debut series with AJ Odudu and going on to win the Christmas Special twice, with Alexandra Mardell in 2022 and with drag artist Tayce in 2024. His appearance on Fighting Talk showcased a different side of his character, proving himself a natural fit for the show’s quick-witted and competitive format. The episode is available to listen now on BBC Sounds.
