With mental health a more poignant talking point on this year’s political agenda, the brilliant work of mental health charity Mind has been thrust into the spotlight. The organisation’s Mind 3000s expedition, which promises to raise over £50,000 to help people all over the UK with a variety of mental health problems, is now a hugely anticipated event. Today, we’re proud to report that popular presenter and MN2S celebrity Emma Crosby will be taking part in this worthy mission.
The Mind 3000s
In just under a month’s time on May 16th, two groups of 24 Mind supporters (Team England and Team Wales) along with 7 celebrities (including Emma) will begin their gruelling, relentless 50km hike – scaling 3,000ft Mountains along the way. It’s a competitive battle of will, wit and stamina – as the team which completes the trail in the fastest time raises the most money. It promises to be a torturous trek – however it will also raise plenty of money and awareness for a largely underfunded charity and the work it does up and down the country.
Campaigning for better support
Newsreader Emma is no stranger to the shocking headlines surrounding poor provision for mental health on the NHS – forcing many in need to turn to free resources like Mind’s Infoline, where some of the money raised from the expedition will be used. Emma’s team-mate TV presenter Gail Porter said: “I passionately feel that everyone deserves that support, to be listened to and reassured when your world has been turned upside-down.”
Fellow intrepid participant, TOWIE’s James Argent, added, “Smashing our target through the Mind 3000s will do just that!” It’s all for a fantastic cause of course – and Emma herself is an active advocate for improved mental health services. She is joined by active mental wellbeing and provision campaigners Denise Welch and Gail Porter as well as a host of other actors and presenters who are thrilled to be supporting such a fantastic charity.
